Jean M. Smith
Senior Vice President
Jean Smith began his professional career immersed in all aspects of his family’s retail furniture business, Smith Furniture Company. This experience has given him a retailer’s perspective about site selections and operations, thus allowing him the knowledge to know the components necessary to select quality retail real estate. Jean joined CBRE in 2015 though its acquisition of UCR. While at UCR, Jean’s caring attitude, sincerity and knack for communication melded easily with UCR’s former Vice Chairman and now CBRE’s Chairman of Retail Services Americas, Mickey Ashmore, creating a strong team, which in-turn made UCR one of the most successful retail real estate services firms in Texas.
With more than 25 years of experience in retail real estate, Jean is the consummate tenant advocate. Currently, he is coordinating the Texas rollouts for Target, Macy’s, Circuit City, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Cap-it. For the past decade, while working through numerous real estate representatives, Jean completed more than 100 leases for Blockbuster Video in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). Prior to the CVS/pharmacy buy-out of Eckerd, Jean spent four years repositioning and opening over 40 new units in DFW. He has also assisted Sprouts Farmers Market with more than 23 successful store openings in the Metroplex.
Jean was voted in D CEO as one of the “best commercial real estate brokers in Dallas”. In 2006, his peers honored him by selecting him to the board of directors of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors.
Jean is a member of Watermark Church in Dallas, and is actively involved with an East Africa missions group, Barry Wood Ministries. A native of Dallas, Jean received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University.
