Ascension Opens in Thanksgiving Tower

Third Location for the Dallas-based Coffee Shop, Cafe and Wine Bar Delivers Strong Opening Day Sales

CBRE announces Ascension’s newest location at Thanksgiving Tower in Downtown Dallas is now open. This is the third Dallas location for the popular coffee shop, cafe and wine bar that traces its roots to Australian-style coffee shops and simple European cafes that offer food, wine and coffee in a familiar, laid-back atmosphere.

“We are thrilled to be downtown and in a great location like Thanksgiving Tower. We don’t even have our sign up yet and we have already surpassed our initial opening sales projections,” said Russell Hayward, Founder/Roaster at Ascension. “I haven’t operated downtown since 2010 and it’s incredible to see the difference that seven years have made. The streets are vibrant with people most of the day and into the night. There are activities going on and the new construction and renovations in progress indicate that it’s only going to get better.”

The restaurant is located at 1601 Elm Street at the main entrance of Thanksgiving Tower and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The 50-story tower recently completed $40 million in capital renovations.

Amy MacLaren with CBRE in Dallas represented the landlord, Woods Capital Management. Jack Gosnell and Sasha Levine with CBRE in Dallas represented Ascension in lease negotiations.

“A big part of our vision for the renovations at Thanksgiving Tower included adding high quality restaurant options,” said Jonas Woods, President and CEO of Woods Capital. “Offering the best cup of coffee in town, an innovative menu and an inviting, laid back café atmosphere, Ascension really delivers on what we were hoping to provide our tenants.”

Ascension is the first restaurant to open in Thanksgiving Tower. Gather Kitchen will open in July 2017 and CBRE’s leasing team is in talks with several other concepts that are interested in locating at the iconic downtown office tower.
