Planet Tan Founder Tony Hartl Bringing Crunch Fitness to Dallas

DALLAS, Texas, March 4, 2014 – Tony Hartl, an experienced Dallas entrepreneur, author and founder of Planet Tan, is introducing Crunch Fitness to Texas and seeking sites for the franchise’s first locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. 

Tony brings a proven history of business success through his experience opening his first Planet Tan and then growing the concept to 16 units before selling the chain in 2008. He has plans to open 8 to 10 Crunch Fitness locations throughout the DFW Metroplex by 2016.

Crunch locations range from 16,000 to 25,000 square feet. The concept avoids traditional fitness club features such as racquet ball courts and lap pools in favor of more exercise equipment and profuse class offerings. The concept’s low price model, lack of contracts and abundance of classes and equipment makes Crunch accessible and democratic.

The Crunch business model and philosophy puts the customer first. Crunch aims to create a fitness environment that is encouraging and welcoming by creating a culture of clients that are not trying to simply lose weight but achieve goals.

It’s this spirit that has allowed Crunch to flourish and become one of the most recognizable fitness brands since opening its first location in New York City in 1989. Crunch has 250 locations and over 300,000 members. Entrepreneur Magazine has listed Crunch as the hottest franchise to own in 2011 and 2012 and ranked it in its 2014 Franchise 500. It has been featured on hit shows like Sex and the City and Will and Grace and offers innovative classes like AntiGravity Yoga ‘Wings’ and TRX classes that can be hard to find at other gyms.
